Niral says: "The Coronavirus pandemic is not just about the virus. It has also brought with it hunger, loneliness, and homelessness for our contract laborers. During this time, there are employees at Birla Copper who are rising to take preventive measures to fight the virus, bringing support and service to people selflessly in different ways. At Birla copper, a large number individuals jumped into the fight and there was a fair bit of mixing of roles from the departments. When most of the people were working at home in the township or in their native places, some people worked selflessly and courageously to save the Birla Copper residents from COVID 19. People from nearby villages engaged with our admin team in making and supplying masks, which were subsequently distributed to the township and to other villages. Our admin team worked 24x7 to ensure that workplaces were clean and hygienic and surfaces (e.g. desks and tables) and objects (e.g. telephones, keyboards) were wiped with disinfectant regularly. They put sanitizer dispensers in prominent places around the workplace and also made sure they were regularly refilled.
